Terry Thompson, Muskingum County Animal Farm Owner, Allegedly Killed Self After Freeing Exotic Animals
Sheriff’s deputies shot nearly 50 wild animals – including 18 rare Bengal tigers and 17 lions – in a big-game hunt across the Ohio countryside Wednesday after the owner of an exotic-animal park threw their cages open and committed suicide in what appeared to be one last act of spite against his neighbors and police.
As homeowners nervously hid indoors, officers equipped with high-powered rifles and shoot-to-kill orders spread out through fields and woods to hunt down about 56 animals that had been set loose from the Muskingum County Animal Farm by its owner, Terry Thompson, before he shot himself to death Tuesday.
After an all-night hunt that extended into Wednesday afternoon, 48 animals had been killed and six captured alive and taken to the Columbus Zoo, authorities said. The only animals believed still on the loose were a wolf and a monkey.

Just saw this on the news.

Why couldn’t they shoot them with tranquilizer guns?!?!  I DON’T UNDERSTAND.

This is disgusting. How in the hell could this be allowed? I don’t understand. They didn’t deserve to die for being what they are. Why didn’t they just use tranquilizer guns?? This is a disgrace, I can’t stand that our society allows this. All because of one person’s stupid mistake they all had to have thier lives taken away? They couldn’t have just been tranquilized and brought to a sanctuary? Do you have any ideas how many sanctuaries would have opened their arms to these beautiful animals? But instead they lay dead because our society doesn’t value their lives whatsoever. It makes me sick andsad and so determined. One day I will help them and one day no animal will suffer at the hands of any human being.

Even in death, these animals are so beautiful…

Wtf?! Why didn’t they use tranquilizer guns?!
